SELF-DEFENSE
Our self-defense curriculum, dubbed S.A.F.E. Martial Arts, was created to provide an evidence-based martial arts system that dispenses with traditional forms and arcane techniques to practice only what works and what can protect you in the worst situations. A blend of different martial arts techniques combined with proven workout regimes and proactive strategies combine to form a complete, comprehensive system of preparedness that can help you feel prepared, confident, and safe.
Self-defense is a big part of karate but to work specifically on the best real-world skills available, Sensei Ginn realized that he would have to draw from more sources than just traditional karate. With that in mind, and effectiveness and accessibility being the main criteria for inclusion, S.A.F.E. Martial Arts was born.
S.A.F.E. stands for Self-defense, Awareness, Fitness, and Empowerment, and is the focus of this dedicated system of martial arts that focus only on self-defense without the trappings of styles, pre-existing curriculums, or the confines of competitive fighting. S.A.F.E. Martial Arts are a practical and proven collection of techniques and exercises that prepare its practitioners to endure whatever life throws at them.
Traditional martial arts are extremely valuable and can produce amazing results in the people who practice them. S.A.F.E. Martial Arts instructors are dedicated to the continuation of their respective traditional martial arts but when you are looking for a modern system of self-defense that only teaches techniques that work in a high-pressure situation, there is no substitute for S.A.F.E. Martial Arts. Much like with modern science, the most current knowledge is the only kind that we are interested in. All the techniques we practice must be proven effective to be used and if a better alternative is available, we will take it! We are not stuck on a certain style or technique, only the best and most current information will do and S.A.F.E. Martial Arts is always evolving to use the best information available.
